Nice...any plans on trying 208's? The heaviest I've run in a .308win is 175 SMK's I do use 208's in my .300wm (ELD M's) and they do well. I've shot game with all four-155 Scenars, 168 Amax's. 175 SMK's and the 208 ELD M's and had good results. I've followed some of the work Montana Marine has done with the 208's and it is impressive.

Dave, what makes it a Frankenrifle? Factory barreled action and stock, or was some machine work done?

what rings are you using? i really like the LTR. mine is the XTR, which as far as i can tell is a stainless LTR with a blackened finish and a green stock.

Just "Frankenrifle" because it's ugly, I bought the barreled action and the stock here on the 'fire from different people (same as my last one) with no round count or guarantee on either. It surprises me how well these rifles shoot, I've worked with several and been around a few more-all but one in .308win, the other in .223 and the all shot at custom rifle levels.

The rings that were on it during the test were Burris vertical split rings, the scope was a Leupold 4.5-14 VX3. I switched scope and rings after seeing it would shoot, now the rings are Night Force lights and the scope is a NXS 2.5-10. The rail is a 20moa EGW

Nice shooting. I have the 24 inch 5R milspec and have been looking at LTR's and Tikka CTR's lately.

Re your load, I bought a used Remington M700 BDL at Gander some years back. Took it to the range with 168g A-MAX and Varget in .5g increments. The first 5 shots went into a group that measured .155" wide by .610" high, with every .5g increment printing a tad higher than its predecessor. Loads were 43.5g, 44.0g, 44.5g, 45.0g, and 45.5g. The 168g AMAX and Varget make a good combination for the .308.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

And if that load shoots a lot of others will as well. Great shooting btw, I have no doubt it wasn't all the rifle.
