I say let them do it. Most self respecting hunters don't go there anyway now.

In their hayday, Dicks was one of those stores that tried to dabble a little in everything sporting and did them all poorly.
Crash and burn, Dicks.

They’ve always sucked as far as I’ve known them. Well before feelers were hurt, their gun and hunting “section” was pitiful.
They do soccer/football/baseball/basketball, and golf. Mostly patronized by soccer moms buying sporting equipment and cleats. I really don’t care if they want to sell ARs, 10/22s, or some POS Mossberg.

Dicks started forever ago selling fishing equipment.
They are a far cry from a fishing store nowdays
I won't step foot in a Dicks even when they are having their going out of buisness sale.

Dick's is opening up a string of big box stores called "Field & Stream". They sold semi auto black rifles like hotcakes even after Dick's stopped selling them, at least until Parckland. Don't be fooled by the name. They'll sell guns, but they DO NOT support your right to own a gun. Dick's (and Field & Stream) actually hired anti gun lobbiest, trying to get congress to force ALL sporting goods stores to abide by the same rules they imposed on themselves, in an effort to level the sales field. Dick's (and F&S) make a big deal out of honoring Dick Stack, who opened up a tackle and sporting goods shop on money borrowed from his grandmother. Kinda like Bill and Hill supporting ethics in politics! Don't fall for it. They're usually overpriced as well. 7mm

I worked behind the gun counter in the Hunting, Fishing, and Camping Department of Hermann's Sporting Goods back in the early 1980s. Same thing happened to them. They fell under pressure to stop carrying firearms and ammo, and immediately declined, then closed their doors. They were a giant in sporting goods till they made that fateful decision. I remember going in there a couple of years after I quit, and it was a graveyard. Nobody there. Only a year later, they were gone.

I've been told by a friend that 3 salespeople quit the gun Department at Field & Stream when they quit selling black rifles. I don't know about the rest of the store. When I asked about a veterans/military discount one guy there compared it to discounting for Boy Scouts as well. I'll be as glad to see them close their doors as I would the NFL going tits up. Bottom line. They both love our money, but they hate our values. 7mm

What a shame. The original Dick's Sporting Goods store on Court st. in Binghamton NY was a good place to buy guns/ammo archery and fishing tackle at good prices.
