If Kimber is discontinuing the .223 Rem in a Montana. What do you suggest? It will get shot at targets, it will get taken hunting for deer, it will ride on wheelers and in trucks. I do reload and it must be stainless.

T3 (1-10”) or T3 Superlite (1-8”). I have both.

[Linked Image]

This is the 1-10”, it also shoots the 64 gr Nosler BSB into groups like this. Whatever the 1-10” does, the 1-8” does just as well. I’m working on a 70 gr Nosler RDF load with the 1-8” that I probably won’t try with the 1-10”.

I had some fun and painted the stock.

My son named it Blue Lightning for what it did to rock chucks. We shoot them quite a ways out. My most accurate load is the Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint with Benchmark at 3400 FPS.

No pics of the Superlite. They are both a blast to shoot. Light, accurate, and easy to load for.

I bought this one used from Shortactionsmoker. He did the load work up for the 64 gr BSB and posted about it. Then he put it in the classifieds. I jumped on it.

I had a tikka 8 twist and it didn't turn my crank. Didn't shoot like I expected and I didn't like the stock. I'm sure they're nice rifles, they're just not for me.

Too bad Kimber doesn't make a .223 in the Hunter Model. Have you tried any of the lightweight bullets in yours? If those 6.5 95gr VMax's shoot they would be a very decent coyote killers. Probably a little rough on the hides, if that matters to you.

I don’t own any Tikkas but I’ve worked on and shot a few. I do have Montanas though and like them. But I’m thinking about a T3 action, McMillan, aics build just to see. Conventional lug, sporter contour.

Tikka T-3 stainless synthetic - you don't see any posts titled "Tikka Roulette".
They are a "plug and play" rifle - install rings & scope and go shoot.

drover

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.
