Same here, when ties are called for remember clip on Slim Jim, no need to provide a self tourniquet or hangman's noose.
Perhaps I was wrong....the only thing nastier than a Bolo is a clip on tie, although both go nicely with leather fringe and snakeskin boots. hey never trumper, don't worry about what I wear, and no one here is surprised you throw lilies.

I have 4 of them. While I rarely ever get dressed up enough to wear a "tie" now that I'm retired, I'll continue to wear one whenever I friggin feel like it! So much more artistic/individualistic than any swath of cloth the rest of the sheep are wearing. I know now what I'm wearing to any get-together with folks here! I remember attending a meeting once where the bully VP of one of the universities I worked for saw my bolo tie (a turquoise one with veins of gold and silver streaking through it surrounded by fancy silver work that day). He attempted to put me down in front of the rest of the group with the comment "What's the problem, can't afford a regular tie?" With a smile on my face I calmly/jokingly replied "I bet this tie cost 4 times that rag you're wearing". That shut him right up, he never messed with me again and we had a great relationship after that. Was going to say the same. Nobody thinks twice about putting that strip of overpriced silk around their neck like a narrow baby bib.

Such passion for simple neckwear. Now I'll have to include bolo ties to the new guys questionnaire.

The 'right' person can wear a bolo tie smartly. I'm short, a little chubby, and my bolo tie compliments my bell bottoms and beanie, with the propeller on top.

Back in the mid-50's bolo ties were big. Small town, central CA. My Dad made them as a hobby with dry flies, gold flake, all kinds of stuff embedded. Personally I was never into them, but I don't hate them.

I dont mind a regular tie..but I can put on a bolo tie and not have to flip my collar up.
My arms are too large to allow me to fix my collar correctly.
Might be why no one gives me schit about wearing a bolo tie.

I'm in the minority here. I've been looking to buy a modest Turquoise bolo tie. I wear Turquoise rings pretty often. I lived in New Mexico from the time I was 6 till I was 13 and always liked turquoise.

Looks like you better add shorts and tee shirts to that list too since a member commented in the "mouse gun" thread that that didn't constitute manly wear either. Real men wear what they want, whenever they want too, regardless what the "norm" is perceived to be.

When I'm really getting decked out I wear the turquoise/gold/silver bolo mentioned above with a ring like your's and a beautiful Zuni Indian watch band made of turquoise and several other precious stones. I couldn't give a damn what any other "guy" thinks about them, women think their beautiful and always comment on them. Works for me!

I inherited this one when my Dad passed. I'm not sure where he got it, but have been told since a child that it was carved of walrus ivory. I recall Dad wearing it time to time, but I never do. The minute I retired I never put on ANY tie again, and hopefully never do! I think this bolo is sort of neat though.

I don't wear mine. It was presented to my for having a small group at one of our NBRSA Nationals a few years ago. It is still in the case, but I don't wear any ties.

I wear them on occasion.
I have one made by a friend from Oregon and it was made out of a nice stone.
I have one made out of jade, i am not sure where i picked this one up.
I have another made by a Navajo friend who has owned his own stores around the country, Denver, Santa Fe, Las Vegas & Phoenix. He has makes belt buckles and i have one to match the bolo tie. At one time he designed and made Belt buckles, rings, ear rings, bracelets and other one of a kind for the Rich and famous. If remember correctly, Like Elvis & Tom Jones.

The other two rings i have seen, however, i am not sure who the artist is.
