So thinking of dusting off a 22 rifle I bought new when it first came out, have not used it in probably over 20 or more years, Come to find out there was a recall on them, sent an e-mail to winchester, but have not heard back yet. I never had issues with it, but it was something to do with slam fires.here is a pic from the web of it.

I always thought that rifle shouldered like a model 100. It seemed to have very similar lines and scale to the centerfire.

Last summer, I took a Green Mountain 20" fluted sporter barrel and stuck it on a 10/22 DSP (Deluxe Sporter). It looks a heckuva lot like the 490 from the side, which suited me a lot. I always thought the 490 was a heckuva good looking little rifle.
I had heard that some of the 490s had issues, I guess I sidestepped them with the 10/22, but the 490 is sure a good looking rig. I hope you can get it up and running reliably.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

Agreed, looks like an old school Winchester.
