If I can pick anything then something from Nightforce. If it has to be something I can afford then a Leupold 3X. Just arrived from Leupold today. They have new-at least to me-packaging and different scope markings. The other ones I have also say Big Bore. This one doesn't. Perhaps it is because they are only going to make the 3x until the existing parts supply are gone.

Same ones that are on all my hunting rifles. My one varmint is different but could easily get by with my "one" choice.

March 2 1/2-25X52. Much prefer 2nd focal plane reticle.

16bore: Not sure if I understand your questions parameters, but let me say this - "one scope only" for:
Big Game scope: Leupold 4.5x14 variable with A/O and fine Du-Plex reticle
Colony Varmints scope: Leupold 6.5x20 variable with A/O and fine Du-Plex reticle.
Predators (and night calling) scope: Leupold 4x12 variable with A/O and fine Du-Plex reticle
Target scope: Leupold 36 power with fine crosshair and fine dot reticle
Plinking (22 LR style) scope: Leupold 3x9 variable with A/O and fine Du-Plex reticle
Long live Leupold & Stevens - a fine American company!

Leupold 2.5x8 with #4 Reticle. Like the one mounted on my "if I could only have one rifle" LH Rem KS in .270 Win. that shoots "if I could only have one bullet" 130gr NPT's and NAB's...

LH KS is nice. My 6.5-06 models that layout. I'd go with an ATACR 4-16 F1 if going to one scope.

My initial impulse is to say Leupold 3-9x40mm but I bought a Leupold 4-12x40mm last year and I like it so well that I would probably get another 4-12 instead.

Me too, and I really like the B&C reticle.

You're both gluttons for punishment....prepare for the oncoming Leupold hatred.
I'll stoke that fire. I've owned just about all of them and while some of them are really awesome, none of them are worth $100 more than my Leupolds, much less $1000.

Right now Weaver Classic K4, that is pending my evaluation of the Meopta Artemis 4x32.

Assuming you mean one scope from our current collection? I'd roll with the Huskemaw 4-16x46 Blue Diamond with a custom turret for each of my rifles.
