Can I ask a question without getting flamed too badly?
I've not had an SWFA scope. But I love a good scope that holds zero and you can put through a box test with success.
My question is this: How come I see so many being sold in the classifieds here?
Why would someone sell a nice scope that works?
Serious question, since I've been getting interested in them.

Serious question, since I've been getting interested in them. I'll have everyone revolt and throw stones at me. I think they have the tracking down, but the optics are lagging. I got a 3x9 for Christmas and never even mounted it due to tunneling on low power and less than stellar glass. So I think they are a good scope at a good price, but people expect an excellent scope for the price and have higher expectations. Good value and great at any price are different things.

For me they're a known commodity. Sell one knowing that you can simply buy another.. Buy used knowing that you are good to go. Optics perfectly fine by my eye. I think they are popular is why you see them, not because they are flawed... Sometimes I think I need a scope. Sometimes I think I need to sell a scope. If I kept everything that was good I'd be screwed.

The sale of 10% applies to the sample list scopes too.

Why would someone sell a SWFA? Perhaps familiarity with the lineup of scopes and preferences changing.
I didn't know that some of the fixed power MOA or all 3-15 versions had a reticle with a space in the crosshairs and a dot in the middle. Didn't embrace the first focal plane concept in the beginning, now I like it. While I have kept all the SWFAs to date, I could have sold two for some changes like FFP or Mil/mil adjustments and a dot less reticle.

Serious question, since I've been getting interested in them. Just loony's being loony's. Buy something, try it out, find something slightly different that must be better, etc. SWFA makes solid scopes that have very good internals for the money.

I like my 3-9, but the turrets are really tall and I just don’t feel like having a sniper-wannabe scope on certain rifles. But I do have another rifle I really like it on. They are also relatively heavy. I think the glass is decent. I’ve tried to quit putting much emphasis on scope glass. I’m not using it like a bino or spotter, just a sight. But it’s hard to not really appreciate excellent glass. They do track. Basically I’m a fan, but they don’t appeal to me for all situations.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I can live with "decent" glass.
I sure can't abide a scope that won't hold zero though. So SWFA's are GTG as far as holding zero?

Holding zero doesn't mean much while it's sitting in a safe. Just looking for something that'll hold zero with some use and jostling around.

Serious question, since I've been getting interested in them. I always have spare 6x and 3-9x unmounted in the safe. If I sell a rifle with a SWFA on it, I'll sell the scope. If I can buy one for $400 shipped....I'll usually buy it because it's easily sellable, i.e.: a known commodity.
