I just got back from hunting coyotes in Nebraska. In 3 days my buddy and I killed 27 coyotes. All but three were killed with AR-15s and almost exclusively with Superformance 53 grain loads. I did carry my 6x47Lapua the last day so I could shoot one at 500 yards but I never had an opportunity beyond 200. I shot three with it using a 95 grain TMK at 3200 fps. Pretty potent medicine on a coyote. Biggest one we killed was 47 pounds. Looked like a wolf! Saw lots of mule deer, sharptails and even a badger (which I missed).
It was cold and windy most of the time so it made for some long days but well worth it! A few were starting to get mange but many were very nicely furred. I noticed that they were lighter colored than our Arizona and New Mexico coyotes.

Had a similar experience in 2005 in. Nevada. Killed 28 in a little over 2 days. Went 14 consecutive call stands killing at least one coyote each stand. We commented we may never see this again and we have not. Stars were really lined up.. before the days of an ecaller every half mile. We continued to hunt the area for a few years with little success.
