Picked up a slug barrel with integral scope mount for my 500 today at the local gun shop. I'm thinking about the Bushnell Banner 1.5 - 4, anything else out there under $150?

There is no “best cheap scope” since cheap means junk. If you mean best inexpensive scope then the Nikon Slug scope holds up well even on 458 mags.

Bushnell Trophy XLT 1.75-4. It's a "shotgun" scope, so should take the recoil, but all I've ever had one on is .22s. Often very discounted.
Hawke Endurance LER 2-7. Again, never had one on a kicker, but have two and like them. $80 from CLNY, $90 from EABCO.
What fresh Hell is this?

Chainsaw, I see that the 1.75-4 is labeled "shotgun scope". I think I'll likely go with it.
jwp475,
Had I said "affordable" many would have suggested I stretch my budget and buy a Nightforce or Swarovski....

I have a Bushnell "Trophy" 1.75-4x32mm on an 870 12 ga slug gun and it has held up to the tough recoil for many, many years. Can be found for about $100 or so.

I had a Bushnell Trophy XLT 1.75-4 on a 12 ga 870 slug gun also. No problems but you might want a little more magnification

You hit it right the first time. We have the Bushnell Banner 1.5X4.5 with a duplex recticle on about 5 slug guns. Amazing how crystal clear and bright they are for a relatively inexpensive scope. At 1.5 you can easily get on a running deer at 10 yards and 4.5 is more than enough for shotgun ranges. They have been subjected to hard recoil over the years and we've never had a problem with any of them.

Doug,
The Konus Pro 1.5-5x32 looks right up my alley! I'll put it on my list to check out. Thank you very much for your help.
Bill N,
I'll mostly use this gun for 50 yards or so. If the barrel had irons I'd be content with no glass!
wink-man, A buddy uses them on his black powder guns and says the same!

Does it have to be a variable? Doug has the Hawke 4x32 Vantage in either mil-dot or duplex for $70. I have the mil-dot version on a 20 gauge slug gun and it works extremely well. The dots make good holdover marks for longer shots.

We have found the Konus offerings to be excellent quality and priced way below what one would expect for this quality

Leon,
I love fixed four powers. I'm kind of wanting to set this one up for game VERY close and moving. I'm going to take one of my K4's out and see how I feel about it at 10-20 yards....
