Great cartridge. I started shooting a 17AH in '92 and have used it probably more than any other gun. A 20" TC carbine that's always in the truck on every outing. For me that carbine is the best / handiest / safest truck gun. I use it on all the small critters we go for......20gr bullets at something like 3640 with 680 and 1680. AA2200 is also very accurate but haven't chrono'd that load. VV120 is faster at a bit over 3800 with the same great accuracy. Just a really versatile round for potguts (groundsquirrels) prairie dogs and rockchucks. And a lot of fun on magpies. My shooting partner Stormbringer has the same gun in 17Ackley Bee, which has a little more ooomph, and he uses that thing all the time. You can't go wrong with the little .17.
