George Washington warned against “systems of entangling alliances.” After 40 years of service, I concur that’s its time to move General Mattis to the pasture. He needs to rub elbows with everyday Americans again so he can get to know us.

The wheels seem to be coming off.

The man is retiring. There are plenty of qualified replacement with the energy to continue.

Yeah, the "wheels" are coming off of the deep state military industrial.complex plans designed to keep our country in a perpetual state of war.

We need to worry about SECURING OUR OWN BORDERS for a change.

Fight to win, or go home. Scorched earth. If we don't want to do that, then we shouldn't be there. There is nothing in that crap hole including the people that don't want to be like us, worth our continued blood or treasure. Our only mistake was not turning that place to glass after 9/11. and coming home in 2 months. But the military complex is big business.

I have the utmost respect for Gen. Mattis and his lifetime of service to this country. I also believe that he’s doing the right thing by resigning. He’s a war dog and war dogs need war and can always justify war. We elected the President because of his promises to untangle ourselves from ridiculous “wars” and increase border security. If any of the President’s appointees don’t want to go along with the President’s agenda they absolutely should step down and that’s what Gen. Mattis did. He wants us to stay in Syria and Afghanistan and he wants us to increase the number of troops there which is in direct conflict with the agenda of the people and the agenda and promises of the President.

There’s plenty of good and honorable men like Gen. Mattis that will fill that important role. Whoever does fill that position will have to support the agenda of the President as dictated by the will of those that voted for him. Those that didn’t vote for President Trump can go [bleep] themselves.....simple as that. I don’t give a flying rats ass about the liberals and pusssies that don’t support border security, a wall or us finally ceasing to be the worlds policemen.

Pulling out of Syria will create a vacuum of influence. Russia and Turkey will be looking to "work the neighborhood". All the talk about not being the world's policeman is fine - but you must realize if the decision backfires - the next action may not be something you will like. Certainly, time will tell - but are we ready to accept what that will be?

I agree, always listen to men of military experience like Mattis.

I say good bye. Time to move on, away from the constant tax dollar sucking wars. He can throw a fit and step down, dont really care. I'm as right as they come, but I'm tired of the endless wars and putting our fine troops in harms way. Bring em home and secure our home land!!
