anyone compared the bridges to a sako classic inletted for a 70?

Bridges is trimmer with a straighter grip. The JEB stock seems ideally geared to off hand shooting. SAKO Classic is one of my favorite McMillan stocks, both are good but next one I get will be a JEB model.

Not side by side, but have owned them both for M70s. The grip is different (as noted above) and I find the Sako more comfortable... but the shorter and timer for end of the Bridges is nice for slimmer/shorter barrels.
Sako Classic is still my favorite McMillan M70 stock for anything over a 22" barrel (and I've tried every other option)

Thanks to the contact info in this thread I talked to Mr. Bridges and will be putting together an order with him once I decide on an action and barrel.

Has anyone put a MRC 1999 in a Bridges pattern? It appears MRC uses a #2 contour barrel on their ASR, seems like it would be a good fit for this stock.

ETA: Failing the above, has anyone put a custom Win 70 w/ a #2 barrel in this stock?

Just trying to make a decision on barrel contour for this stock never having held one. I'm pretty sold on using a MRC action due to the gas handling features as this rifle will be used by my wife and daughter.

If a #2 is too heavy, I can buy an action and have a lighter barrel installed.

What is his price tag these days?

$100 +Mcmillan's price.

That's less expensive than when one had to go through Hill Country.

Yes at least for a M700 they were so should be for the M70 as well. Not sure but these might have a solid action area that is inletted after the molding. Call JEB a very nice gentleman to deal with and his wife is quite knowledgeable too and sometimes takes the orders.

Yes, I believe they charge an extra $35 to fit the tang on 70s.

Wow - with the exception of the more open grip on the bridges, it looks like a scaled down version of the echols. Seems like similar comb height.

That looks like it would be a good fit for a Featherweight, but it is sure getting up there in price.

How in the world does HCR stay in business? I've never seen gunsmith and custom gun prices so high, for so little return.

A chunk of their "custom guns" are R700 barred actions, an HCR accruizing job, and a $3500-$4000 price tag. What a joke, but I guess they sell em to suckers every day.

$3000 gun from a $500 barreled action. Lol

I had HCR rebarrel a 7mm WSM to .350 Rem Mag, and a .30-06 (IIRC) to .280 Rem.

I was less than impressed, but I used them one last time to do a 7mm Dakota off a stainless Winchester 70 originally in 300 Win Mag.

When I got it back it would not feed. I had to send it out to Penrod to get it straightened out.

I would not recommend them. Call Lex Webernick at Rifles, Inc and be happy.
