How does the blueing on the higher priced Savage rifles (EX: Model 110 Hunter) hold up in bad weather ? TIA, Ben

I've never had any problems with Savage bluing.

I had one for years and it held up fine. I finally got it powder coated just because I wanted too. Great shooting rifle, should have kept it.

Ben243,

As far as I can know, there has never been an issue with Savage's bluing. I have two older Savages with their original barrels. Neither has given me any trouble. No rust or pitting. I have a bluing pen for scratches. My 30-06 comes out with me every fall. The wooden stock is in need of attention, but the metal is fine.

I don't think you will have any problems.

My brother has an older 110, my other brother's buddy has one even older. No issues with the bluing.

I have an older Savage, at least 20yrs, bought it from someone who picked it up off a used rack. So I am at least the 3rd owner. Has been hunted in Colorado snow and Texas humid heat, no issues noted. No idea on the previous usage. Damn accurate too

I have a 116, while not blued it's stainless and has never rusted on me. The gun is 23 years old, and I got it dirt cheap at Wal-Mart while I was in college before joining the Air Force. I mention this, as I have numerous stainless barreled rifles, the Savage and Winchester are the only ones to have never gotten any rust on them. I keep them dry as much as I can during hunting season, and then clean and oil them before storing them.
