When I was younger (quite a bit younger) I worked at a ski area in Montana. We shot M20 75mm recoilless rifles for avalanche control work . The ammo we were using was loaded with a high explosive projectile containing 1.2 kg of comp A3 (more powerful than TNT). OK, whose shot a bigger "Rifle" than that? (Somebodies got to have shot a M40 106 mm Recoilless Rifle)

Ruger #3, 45/70 not fun. Naturally this will hardly qualify as significant compared to 75mm or even larger bore diameters that are sure to be posted, but it was enough for me.

3" Ordinance Rifle aka Rodman Gun.
And a 6 pounder US Model 1841 ( smoothbore, not a rifle).

I was at a gun show a few years back and a man was trading a Weatherby Mark V in 460 Weatherby Magnum plus a box of cartridges with 3 fired out of it. The dealer joked is 3 all you could handle? The man replied he was the third owner!! I still get a kick out of that. I shot a lot of 375 H&H and a few 45/70 is the biggest outside of a 90mm Recoiless in the Army.
I will add the model # of M67 90mm Recoiless Rifle if my memory serves me correctly. I haven't seen a 90mm since about 1979 nor shot one since 1975. Also I forgot about my 416Rem that I had and shot quite a bit.

It was smooth bore, and not shoulder fired, but have fired a few rounds out of a 120mm M256 that's part of an M1 Abrams... that count? LOL

.45-70 & .375 H&H. Neither seemed excessive at all. 12 gauge turkey load seems a lot worse.

470 Nitro Express for biggest rifle
6 gauge for biggest shotgun
I shot a cannon after a Civil War Re-enactment. Not sure what size it was but the cannon ball was about 3"-4" in diameter.

The largest I shot was a WWII era 37mm anti-tank gun. Had a chance to fire a 105mm howitzer but passed.
I've fired a single shot 50 BMG from some company in Ohio I never heard of as well as a Barrett 92. I fired a handful of rounds through an Army/Navy SxS in 450 No 2 Nitro. A relative has an affection for the Weatherby cartridges and through him I've shot them all from the 460 on down.
The largest rifles I fired that I owned were a Ruger #1 in 458 Win mag, a Marlin 1895 in 450 Marlin, and a Remington Rolling Block replica in 45/70. Unless one counts shotgun slugs and muzzleloaders then 72 caliber for the muzzleloader and 10 ga for slugs.
