Just purchased a Traditions Pursuit muzzleloader. While I was removing a larger factory sticker from stock I noticed it took large patches of the rubberized coating with it. This didn’t seem normal to me. Stock looks like a peeling sunburn. Being a new gun I’m not very happy about this. Has anyone heard of this happening. I really like the gun but I’m going to return it.

New stock or return it would be my only two choices.

Large oval sticker seem to have a over amount of adhesive on it. I tried to peel it off slowly and evenly. I saw residue which I thought was left by the sticker but found it was from the coating coming off. Wonder it sticker was applied when coating was not dried. There’s another large sticker on fore stock that I’m not even going to try to remove.

Improperly applied soft coat, possibly coupled with early sticker application as you suggest. Definitely let them know so that they can correct the problem and make good with you. It oughta stick as well as the paint on your car. Well, besides those ones that peeled, if you happen to have one of those . blush Report back please.

It's a application to help your grip on synthetic stocks. Only seen it on muzzleloaders but maybe other rifles have it I'm not sure. I'm waiting to return it but the gun dealer is closed for two weeks. I would like another one like it but worry if this coating will wear off from use or in my four wheeler gun rack.

I had gun chaps on my varmint rifle. It was vinyl with a soft surface backed by a thin cloth lining. It was great for grabbing hold of anything i rested the gun on and greatly reduced slipping and wiggling while on target. It sure helped increase accurate hits on long shots.

Ive considered trying to apply something like that on other rifles. I may try some shower adhesive strips on gun rest surfaces on ARs and maybe the sides of the foreend on squirrel guns to help give purchase against the side of a tree.

Im not as steady as i once was.
