And I ain’t willing to spend $500+ fer another, not until I clear my debt (2020).

Originally came with a six year warranty and only lasted nineteen. A gas unit, some guy (me) did a really good job of building it it’s own little shed against the outside of the house.

Fortunately I got extensive Africa training except here I got more than one bucket and a ready source of heat. Three big pots on the stove and I got hot water in 15 minutes, divide em into two 6 gallon plastic buckets and carry em into the shower, one to soap one to rinse, use a t-shirt as a wash rag. When you’re done finish by dumping both on em over your head. Works real good, shoulda been doing this all along.

I would say this do-it-herself on-demand water heater would cut utility bills except I’m down to their minimum already.

Why would you want to heat hot water? :-)

Next step is to panhandle at the corner.

You could probably afford a hot water heater at that point.

Was staying at a ranch house in Mexico deer hunting where there wasn't electricity.

Water heater was a standard water heater gas, that had no butane incoming. It was set up on a stand and they built a wood campfire under it.

smile

Worked great.

You just have to get a bit earlier... wink

My water heater went out 2 Saturdays before Christmas. Noticed it leaking hard out of the top at 7am. By 1130am I was putting the old one in the Metal Only dumpster at the local dump.

I would confidently assert that I have never taken a handout, never even taken unemployment when l was eligible back when I was living in my car in New Mexico. Yep, I could confidently assert that I have never accepted a freebie, even when I was broke I never sold my plasma, gave it away several times but could never bring myself to sell it.

No Sir! I have never accepted a freebie, on principle.

But then, doing what I do I ain’t worked in more’n thirty years, so I’m confused on that score.

How does a water heater go out when the thermostats and heating elements are replaceable? I've never had one where they weren't. Unless it's gas, I've never had one of those.

The can and do often start leaking.

Fortunately the stove is in the same room as the kitchen sink.

This. They rust out easily down here.

Birdy,

Grandma and grandpa lived about 30 miles south of you. They finished the farmhouse somewhere around 1944?

They didn’t have a water heater until like 1962. Just heated water like you are doing on the stove. Remember it well.

Good luck!

I took more than a few stove warmed baths as a kid.

Took a couple after the hurricane last year with a big turkey fryer pot and propane cooker.

Sure was nice!
