My wife turned 40 on Friday and we had plans for the eve, but I had enough time to get in a long morning hunt. Got to the farm a little before daylight and settled into a brush blind about 7am. There was some decent sign around, but I'd only seen a handful of doe and a spike in previous sits. Not much happening throughout the morn, just saw a few squirrels(one was solid black). I was about to leave about 10am after seeing nothing, but started getting some text from work and stayed a bit longer. I decided to stay til 11 or so for the heck of it and about 10:35 as I was messing with my phone I happened to look up and see a deer butt through the woods in a skinny lane. The deer finally turned and I could tell it was a doe, so I just watched her feed around for probably 5mins and all of the sudden she jerked her head up, looked left, and hauled butt  I figured something was trailing her and that's when I saw his rack hit the skinny lane. I pulled down and fired when I got on his front shoulder b4 he left the small opening I had. He ran twd the doe and I really didn't know if I hit him or not. She came by me much closer about 30sec later and kept stopping to look back, but the buck never showed so I figured I'd made a good shot. He'd only made it 15yds or so with ample blood loss. I shot him at 120yds with a 6.8spc and 120SST at 2590fps MV. The bullet entered behind the shoulder and exited in front of the off side ham. Turned out to be a decent buck that weighed in at 233lbs. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/lKUv370.jpg) Have a good one, loder

Nice. We are fortunate to have about 5 like that here. That survived the season. In fact one was out the last morning when Carolyn shot a cull 6 point that we hadn't seen since last year.
Just glad some of the good ones are around and survive!
