Because Pelosi actually knows she's a threat. Nobody took Obama seriously either as was pointed out above. These old democrats know that these new, young ones are the future of their fugged up party. Liberal politicians don't have to actually DO anything. They just have to be able to SAY the things their voters want to hear. She is doing that...

AOC is just a tool and a poor one at that. She will not always have prepared by others bullet points at hand and so far, when she does not, it is hard to choose between ignorant or stupid for her statements.

I worry more about the do nothing rinos - like mcconnell. Rino ryan's legacy is the loss of the House to Pelosi ...

Both of them polished the art of looking like they were doing something - while they most assuredly were NOT.

I disagree chesterwy, she's not smart enough to win re-election. She's so scatterbrained the Dems don't even like her. Dems will give a LOT of money to the Democrat who runs against her next time, and probably the guy she beat, Joe Crowley.

She is part of the replacement crew and has already learned how to win elections.

She has got what it takes in looks and personality to win in today's environment.

She doesn't have a clue what works and the people voting for her could care less.

What do you suppose was the actual percentage of district constituents who could name the guy Ocrazyo-Cortex beat? I can't. He was number four Dem and I'd never heard of him.

She's probably got that seat as long as she wants it. Unless there's porn..

Do you seriously think the type of people who vote for her would care?

Her nude photos would do wonders for her political career.

I say WE DO IT, once and for all, let's get it over with. Crash it, then maybe people will wise up and put idiots like Cortez where she belongs.

She wants a top tax rate of 70%? Let's do it, then lets see where Zuckerberg and Bezos send their money next election.

I saw just a bit on 60 minutes. I think the same line was spouted around 100 years ago; economic prosperity, good jobs for all in green industries, a move to economical cars for the people. There will have to be an enemy, maybe Jews again?

Socialism is a religion disguised as a political system.

Its broadcast as uplifting of the poor and downtrodden, when its really just hate of the rich.

So.. she wants the same tax rates the US had in the most prosperous times in the US history. In fact in the worlds history.

As tax rates where lowered in the 70s.. things have just gotten worse in the US.

Socialism for big corporations and military industrial complex

&

Rugged individualism for the individual.

I wondered when you'd bring that up, you Communist flack!

Y'all are quick to point out how high taxes were in the 50's and 60's, but you don't want to consider the economic context, which is not even close to comparable to the national and world economies today. Yes, America was prosperous in the 1960's. But America is orders of magnitude MORE prosperous today than she was in 1965. It staggers belief that anyone with half a brain would want a reversion to an economy that existed 50 years ago, and still call herself a "progressive"!

First problem with your comparison: there was this little thing called World War Two a few years before that, which demolished the manufacturing and economic power of the entirety of Europe and wrecked the world's economy for 20 years. In 1960 the USA produced 60% of the world's manufactured goods and there was NO ONE competing with us for markets, no banks as powerful as US banks, and the NYSE was the dominant open market in the world. International trade was still bound by the limits of seagoing shipping, banks and stock markets were largely restricted to their regional spheres of influence. Compare that with today, with manufacturing, banking, and stock markets burning red-hot all over the world.

In 1960, the USA was able to tax both individuals and businesses heavily because there was no penalty in world trade for penalizing our productivity with high taxes. (And we needed those taxes, some argue, as we were still paying off the debts of WW2!) Furthermore, every developed nation was levying similarly high taxes; again, trying to dig out from under the costs of the War. There was nowhere else for manufacturers to relocate their businesses, no other money markets/banks for them to go to for money, and no way to ship goods manufactured overseas to market. So manufacturing stayed in America, only because it couldn't go anywhere else. Contrast that with the present day: corporations can (and will!) move offshore if taxation gets too high here... and have been doing so since the 1970's, in case you hadn't noticed, and this trend has only reversed when taxation on corporations here in the USA has been relieved, as Congress and the Trump Administration recently did. America was not prosperous in the 1960's because of high taxes, but rather IN SPITE of them.

The fact that our economy is booming today has everything to do with looking at PRESENT DAY global market realities and adjusting taxation downward to respond to those realities in a reasonable fashion. Calling for taxation like we had in the 60's, as you and your little airheaded darling AOC have done, makes about as much sense as requiring General Motors to stop making current cars and going back to the Shoebox Chevy.

Maybe so, Mac... but I think AOC's comments are 1) so flagrantly regressive and 2) so perniciously popular with the Communists in America, that any opportunity to point out the supreme idiocy of such a position is essential.
