Hi guys.

I have a Swarovski 3.5-18 x 44 with BT coming from Doug in the very near future. I’m looking for a new ride for both Antelope and Mule Deer and Midwest Whitetail. Rifles in the running are Christensen Arms (I confirmed with them today – no new LH calibers for 2019; 6.5, 308, and 7mm-08 only) and the Weatherby Ultralight in either 257 or 6.5-300. Was also looking at Fierce but the only thing they have in LH is the Edge and that’s more than I want to spend. Sako Finnlight was also on the radar, but I can’t find any in the states – tried Euro Optic – no dice. ER Shaw – no experience with them nor are there a lot of reviews. Montana Rifle Company X3 – too many questions with QC. Not interested in “back and forth”.

What I’m hoping to find is a uber flat ACCURATE shooter (lots of speed) that can be used as a mountain rifle as well as in a stand (copper bullets probably). As to the scope, yes, I have turrets coming, but I’m thinking that they won’t be needed too much and also understand that 18X is mostly overkill. Should Elk be the order of the day I already have a 300 win mag. Maximum distance for Muley and Antelope would be around the 400 yard range (that’s my thought anyway).

What do you guys think – LH shooter – 2 grand range for the gun.

Do I need a new ride, NOPE. But I’m going to get one anyway! Do I have a place where I can physically check out the options above? Nope!

Thanks for your input!

I would really like MRC to be the answer to this but I'm with the wait and see group on that one. You could do a stainless T3X, put it in a McMillan, and put some metal on the bottom.

I'm leaning towards ordering one of the new MRC's in 6.5 PRC. That'd be a sweet cartridge for that scope. As far as the gun goes. I've got a Mesa in 6.5 CM and there are no flies on that but it's not really a lightweight. Lighter than most, but even with a Swaro Z3 3-10x42 in Talley lw's, a full magazine and a butler creek mountain sling it still tips the scale at about 8lbs 1oz.

I will say the new MRC does look interesting. The weight is right.

I'm at SCI and met with Mark Banser yesterday morning. Bansner rifles is going to produce a LH line of their short action rifles. I picked up the Yukoner model yesterday and it is so light, its crazy. He confirmed to me they will make LH rifles and I am considering having him make one for me. They are not cheap but I can't tell you how smitten I was with the model I picked up. Photos to be posted...Stay tuned.

Of all the options you mentioned I would go with the Mess in whatever caliber you like done a lot of research on this rifle and it sounds very good. Widow

I thought about the Mesa but the calibers are fairly limited. I did get in touch with Christensen, and they said no new calibers in 2019.

Are you just searching for a factory option or is a custom ok? I have a 26 Nosler built on a left hand 700 that I probably should sell since I haven’t shot it in over 2 years. Let me know if you are interested

Sorry to be so delayed in posting photos of the Bansner rifles I saw at SCI. I'll get them posted today. I wasn't aware of how expensive they are but wow, are they nice and light.

I talked to the guys in the booth, Mark and his other gunmaker, Ben and we discussed left hand rifles. They will build anything they make in a LH. Also, if necessary, they will use a 700 action and refine it to run like their proprietary one. Looks like all short action stuff on the Yukoner rifle, shown in the foreground. 5lbs 5oz without a scope.

I have no idea why this photo will not show in the correct orientation.
