Just picked up a Winchester model 43 in .218 Bee in mint condition. Made in New Haven, Conn. It has a Lyman peep sighr, tapped on top for scope and beautiful skip line hand checkered stock. A dealer tells me from my photo that the stock must be non original or checkered by someone. Seller says it is a late "clean up" gun and scope tapping is correct. No mention of the stock. Is it correct???

Don't think Winchester ever offered skip line checkering. Post your photo here, I'm sure there's many who could give you a more knowledgeable opinion.

Checkering is NOT like the 52 sporter I am now totally convinced that the checkering although beautiful, is not original Thanks to all for the help.
