That's on Trump. Each day that goes by he loses an exponential amount of leverage. The democratic congress has passed nine (9) bills to open up the government and get people paid and Mitch McConnell won't allow a vote. Trump's best bet is to declare an emergency and have the courts shoot him down. At least he can say he tried. '

There's no escaping it. The US will become a 'chocolate' socialist schithole country. I fear you're correct. The only place I've been in recent years that I wasn't absolutely surrounded by colored folk (while in public) was Laramie, WY.

McConnell will introduce Trump's requested legislation, as advertised. The Senate will pass it.
The House will then refuse to pass it.
Trump will end the shutdown by repurposing DoD funds from other uses.
Trump gets the wall, the Dems have no leverage to get what they want, and Trump comes out looking like the adult in the room while the Dems look like the obstructionists that they are.
