Funny! When my boys were little and we were grocery shopping, they always wanted monkey balls (kiwi fruit)from the fruit section. No idea where they got that term but hilarious every time we bought fruit.

Monkey is pretty darn good, wiz. We had monkey noodle soup all the time in 'Nam.

I got my surprise package of foreign ration Paté the other day. All Russian. Have no idea what the labels say, so I picked one at random. Absolutely delicious. It was like liverwurst and pork-based, but much creamier, smoother, and more delicately flavored. Spread on warm nan bread, it made for a great Sunday afternoon snack.

I am not a huge fan of Russian foods, but damn if their Pashtet is not a wonderful thing. It's a pate made with chicken livers, mushrooms, cream cheese and other things. Simply out of this world. There is a Russian food store down the street that carries it along with Tushonka, a kind of meat stew.

I picked up a can of Underwood Deviled Ham today.....they also had Deviled Chicken and Corned Beef.
I'll try the Ham first and if I decide I still like it I'll grab some Corned Beef on my next food run.

Picked up a can of corned beef on the last grocery run. This morning I made up a machaca torta (beef and scrambled egg sandwitch). It was awesome!

From Wiki....

"A potted meat food product is a food preserved by canning and consisting of various seasoned cooked meats, often puréed, minced, or ground, which is heat processed and sealed into small cans. ... Various meats, such as beef, pork, chicken, turkey and organ meats are used."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potted_meat_food_product

Apology accepted smile

Anywhooo......I had some of the "Potted" Deviled Ham for lunch today......pretty salty but edible with crackers.
I might try the Chicken and/or corned beef ....and I might not.
It'll take me another lunch or two to finish it off....I'll decide then.

Loved that underwood deviled ham as a kid on sandwichs or crackers. Can't remember the last time I had it.

I hadn't had any in at least 40yrs Fats.....it's "OK" but saltier than I remember.

Spam's also too salty for my tastes these days which sucks because I used to love Spam.

That's a step up. grin

I can eat anywhere, and you wouldn't have to buy.

French Pork Rillettes. Easy to make, but takes some time. Nothing in it but pork, salt and pepper. Astoundingly tasty.

Been buying low sodium spam, and frying it up for Breakfast now and then.

Way less salt than the regular stuff.
