I’m looking to add a 1953 K prefix Marlin 39 Mountie 24 inch barrel to my collection. I know it’s a long shot but contact me if you have or know of one for sale. shanbrt msn.com.

They did not make a Mounty in 1953.I just looked in Brophys book and can find no reference to a 24" barreled Mounty. Not saying there was never one made, because Marlin did made uncatalogued guns.I believe the first Mounty`s were made in the late 1950s.

First year Mountie was made in 1953. I have one, but not for sale at this time.I believe I read there were around 3500 made. In 1954 the Mountie went to the 20" barrel.
Huntz-Check on page 277 of Brophys book, there is a picture of a 1953 Mountie with 24" barrel.

Thanks.I missed that.I have a 1954 with the 20" barrel. It does not say mountie anywhere. It has 39A stamped on barrel and has ballard rifling.I also have a 1958 Golden 39 A -Mountie marked as such. That also has 20" tube with microgroove rifling.

Hunts I have a '54 as well. 20" barrel and Ballard rifling. Pretty dang rare configuration per my research. I think only 52 of these made before the full transition to microgroove. Or so says rimfire central. Good luck op!
