If you were in the market to buy a new 1873, would you go with the version that is produced by Winchester or would you go with an Uberti?

Winchester of course. But, the Uberti is equally capable as a lower cost prospect. I recently purchased a Uberti Rolling Block at one third the cost of a Remington original. It’ll still shoot a bullet.
You gotta decide whether you want a show piece or a shootin iron.

The Ubertis I've handled are solid rifles. The Winchesters are a cut above them. The quality of the Miroku-made Winchesters rivals the pre-war stuff made in New Haven. There are some modern features to the Miroku-made leverguns that purists denounce and the fact they are made in Japan but they are quality work. I'm glad they are out there as an option.

The 73s built by Miroku are pretty close to original and seem very nice. Even Duke Venturino broke down and bought a .357 of all things. I'vevactually seen some Ubertis and they look good too. Buy what you like, without fear, I'd say.
A .357 would be nice, but mostly a toy, and I'm trying to buy less, not more. I still live in hope of stumbling onto a nice Browning Low Wall .357 to go with my .44, which was NIB.
What fresh Hell is this?
