I was looking at a CZ 527 mannlicher stocked 223 and a 7.62x39. I was wondering if these were good guns and how is the quality? Also was considering their bigger large action bolt gun in 30-06.... thanks

Don't have a 527 but I do have a CZ 550 in 308 Tacticool stock and it is a tack driver! Don't think you'll be disappointed!

I have 5 model 527s. I would not give up any of them. Very accurate and very well put together.

Did they ever make the 527FS(mannlicher stock) in 7.62x39?

I see other calibers but not that.

I have a 527 in 7.62x39 and I've been very happy with the quality (I also own a CZ side-by-side shotgun and at least two of their handguns, so I'll admit I'm a fan). If you check youtube, there are a few video reviews for various cz 527 and 550 models out there; there's an older clip of two gunsmiths who go over the 550 action in a lot of detail, both were impressed with it and the craftsmanship. (I don't own a 550, but have been seriously considering one for awhile -- be aware that the 550 is no longer made outside of certain African big game calibers nowadays.)

A 550 and a couple 452s. Other than triggers, I like them.

I own a 527 American, in .22 Hornet. Really like this rifle- workmanship, fit, and finish are top-notch, and the accuracy is phenomenal. The set trigger and backwards safety take a bit of getting used to, but these are minor points.

I have and have had several. Never any issues with any of them. Excellent accuracy and function. The CZ550's are a bit stiff when new, but after use get really smooth with the bolt. I actually like the set trigger function, but don't use it hunting.

550s were excellent...but iirc they no longer make them outside of the safari guns. 45x rimfires are great as well. They messed up big time imho when they first screwed with the checkering on the 550s and then stoped making them all together in the non safari guns.

It's cheaper to make checkering in small patches. Lines are shorter. Easier to make short lines and keep them straight.

550 Mag and 452.

Trigger was FAR better on the big rifle. All their center fires are a bit portly. Build and material quality are decent but finish is a bit rough. The 452 trigger is dogschit. Both shot/shoot quite well.

If you can find one in 6.5x55 GET IT! My 550 FS in the Swede is one of the most accurate rifles I own.

I think highly of all the CZs I have shot or owned. Metal finish could be a bit better on many, but the function and utility of all has been 1st rate.

Having said that, I do hold back on my recommendations for the new push-feed 557.
Why?
Well it's just fine, but I don't think it's any better (and possible not quite as good) then the Howa, and it costs more. CZ has it's entire reputation made on "old world" designs. If they wish to break into the "new-style guns" they at least need to understand what the competition is going to be, and compete on a price.
This they didn't do well with the 557.

But I think very highly of the old 602s the 550s the 527s and their bolt action 22s.

I have a 527 American in 204 but I picked up for a song 7 or 8 years ago. Prior to that I had never paid too much attention to them but I have been very impressed with the quality and especially the accuracy. Still not a fan of the safety but otherwise it's a great gun.

With the 527 and any scope with a mid to large sized ocular bell, the bolt handle will need bent a touch bit to clear, unless CZ has changed their design recently.

I have had decent luck with a couple CZ rifles, but they're nothing special. Solid hunting rifles, but that's about it.

I have a 527 Kevlar Varmint in .223, now Ackley. Its a solid "OK" gun. Nothing bad, just nothing especially great. If it weren't a somewhat sentimental gun, it would likely have gone down the road for another 700 based something.
