Heres a couple pics I recieved from greg of Trophy Bonded Bear Claw Tipped bullets he recovered, thought some of you might be interested to see em. Maybe he can tell is what caliber and grain they are and what animal they were used on. They look just like the old TBBC, though I havent found very many.
I shot it into a kudu wounded by my client. It was running straight away at about 200 yards, so I took a couple of steps to the left and slipped that one in just behind the last rib. I found it under the skin on the off shoulder. I don't recall if it was 93 or 94% weight retention, but it was pretty good, especially considering how accurate the new bullet has been in most of my guns. I was shooting a .300 WSM and the bullet was a 180-grainer.
I'll get him to take the photo from the top and side in a few minutes and send those out.

Thanks for the info and the pics Greg, thats the exact caliber and weight bullet I tried out the other day in my Kimber Montana and it shot MOA at a 225 yard zero. If you click on the link above the photo it gives a side view of this bullet, dont know why it wont pop up too.
I really like the way those look! I have been using Bearclaws for a long time in three of my rifles and have as yet to find better performance.
I could whie about them not being available for handloading but I will get over it. At least until the plastic tipped, grooved Swift A-Frame comes out at which point....
I think I will buy a box and try it in my FW that doesn't like the old style High Energy loads [which my other '06 loves].
Have always thought that the A-Frames and TBBC's were the most reliable Big game (minus deer) bullet out there performance wise. But their long range capability has always been a wee bit lacking. Looking at the BC of the new TBBC Tipped, and performance specs (at least on paper) it appears they may have just created the ultimate anything bigger than deer Big Game Bullet! Very suprising that they will not make it available for handloaders, but since I dont roll my own, dont really matter. Nothing not to like about a TBBC or A-Frame mushroom!
I think you'll see them as component bullets one day, but they need to catch up with ammo orders first.
I've always been a TBBC fan (I knew Jack Carter fairly well), so I am glad to see them in a package that offers better long range performance and accuracy. The new tipped bullet is really, really good.

Can anyone speak to trying out Federal’s new Edge TLR? I shot the tipped Bear Claw and couldn’t get 1 inch groups at 100 yards with my 300 win mag. These TLRs are supposed to have improved accuracy, so i’m hoping that I’ll finally be able to get the accuracy and the killing performance I’m looking for.
FYI, i’m looking to kill, elk and African plains game.
This thread is pretty clueless, like a lot of resurrected threads. First GregR has been dead for several years, so resurrecting his part ionof the "conversation" is impossible.
Second, Tipped Trophy Bondeds were available as handloading components when first introduced a decade ago, but were relegated to factory ammo only within a few months, probably because of the huge demand for components and ammo due to Obama being elected.

BW, I've shot the Federal 200 gr. Edge TLR's out of two different 300 WM's I have and found it to be very accurate out of both rifles. I got better accuracy out of them than the factory Tipped Trophy Bondeds in my two rifles. Unfortunately both the ammo and the individual bullets for reloading seem to always be out of stock every time I'm looking for them.
