I have 2 deer rifles. 4, if you count the caplock and flintlock. I have not shot at a deer in 2 years. Public land stinks.

Anyone have plans to get a new or new to you rifle before next season starts? I've already got a bunch here that I need to do some loads worked up for and another on the way. No more new guns this year. Gonna be a slower year at work this fall, so I might even get to use some of those rifles. Come on moose draw!!

No plans for anything new this year. I have 2 new ones that have been bloodied the last 2 seasons but I intend to hunt them more. I also have plans for new load development with 2 new powders. Those powders more than likely will be utilized in more than 2 rifles/cartridges.
Gonna be a slower year at work this fall, so I might even get to use some of those rifles. Come on moose draw!!
GOOD luck on the moose, Cub. Jerry

Han-co; I picked up a POS push feed model 70 for next to nothing, an attempt tp glass bed had glued action and stock together, action screws drilled out and a few other issues. Plan is to slim down the stock a lot, re-barrel and bring back to life. That could be next years deer rifle. Perhaps even the Aoudad rifle. GRF

Maybe a 141 in 30 Remington otherwise I think I will spend some money on a couple new top end scopes.
Wanting a full on custom but undecided on what I really want. Maybe some day.

I bought a 6.5 TC Compass in 6.5 cure this past year just to mess with the cartridge. I have a dozed very fancy and expensive rifles and this damn thing shoots as good or better than all of them. So yes, I'm going to buy another 6.5 and it will be eith a Mauser m18 or Bergara. No particular reason why, I just don't own either brand so something different

3 new to me acquisitions this past month a 1965 vintage 760 ADL pump in 30-06, a 1971 BDL pump in 270, and a 1968 700 BDL bolt in 270. Working on cleaning, scoping/rescoping them and bore sighting them now, any could be a possibility next fall.
Could also consider the 760 pump in 35 Remington I bought a little over a year ago but I'm waiting for the Denver Redfield 2 3/4X scope with post and crosshair to be rebuilt by Iron Sight Inc. to come back so I can put it on and bore sight it.
The plan is to go upstate NY in Qtips area (God rest his soul) and hunt with his cousin Ronnie, and Ronnie has a Remington 750 semi in 308 so I'll probably just bring my 7400 308 Jam-o-matic, we'll see.

Just bought one, A Sako 85 in 270 Winchester. Looked long and hard at the newer ones, ballistic tables and all of that till my brain was numb. The 270 with the newer bullets and powders still runs with current ones. That and I found a new for under $900..

Just took possession of a 270 Fieldcraft. Bought a Talley /Barrett rail and steel rings. Then I put one of the $232 Leupold Vx3i 3.5-10x40 scopes (ebay Deal ) on it. I cranked everything farmer tight going around strategically to each screw. It was a breeze to sight in. The trigger is amazing and recoil is very manageable.

According to the tracking #, Fred X is suppose to deliver me a shiny new limited edition Ruger 77 Hawkeye stainless/walnut .450 Bushmaster tomorrow. Finally, a .450 bolt gun without so much as a hint of Tacti-Cool!

GOOD luck on the moose, Cub. Jerry Thanks ..... My job keeps me very busy in the fall. Starting Sept 12 last year I commenced to work on a job that took me right to New Years Day working 87 12hr shifts and a handfull of 10hr shifts. I didn't apply for any tags or even buy a deer tag. This year will be much slower aaaand much anticipated. Can't wait to get out the door with the dog and a shotgun.
