Any suggestions for a document safe? I have a gun safe and am considering getting a smaller safe to grab if possible during a fire. Something for important paperwork etc. Anyone have any suggestions and more important, anyone had one go through a fire and the flood afterwards? I saw the thread last week about the poor guy who’s save just didn’t cut it on the guns but what about theses smaller ones for documents and personals?

I'd think that more smoke alarms would be a better value than another safe, assuming that you are not away a lot. Just my opinion, of course.

OTOH, my brother lived close to the campus where he worked, but during a midday rainstorm, lightning hit his house and it burned to the ground, because it was secluded from view by neighbors.

My guess is renting a bank lock box of appropriate size for things like important irreplaceable documents would probably be the safest way to store such. Bank robbers are after quick cash, banks have sprinkler systems for fires, and lock box rooms would likely seal against flooding.
