I purchased a Rossi Combo at a show recently,3 barrels,17 HMR/270 Winchester/50 cal. muzzle loader. All looks new unfired, can't pull hammer back on any of the 3 barrels, all the barrels will go together but hammer won't pull back to cocked position.I called Rossi, very nice service rep I talked to.I gave him the serial number on the reciever, said the reciever was made in 2002,and was factory fitted with a 12ga/22 long rifle. He said it could be sent back to factory and refitted.I'm not sure I want to do that,is there much of a market for this stuff to sell it out.I paid $225 for it,I see barrels for $100.+ on auction sights each. Its all like new,I'm just hoping to get my money back.I don't know which way to go lol

I don't have a Rossi rifle but I recall reading a review on one and it had a keyed lock built in to the hammer that prevents the rifle from being cocked. Does yours have one? If it does did you get a key?

I checked, this one was made 2002,it doesn't have a key spot on hammer, must be before key.Actually has only a half cock safety. It goes together with all 3 barrels,opens/closes,just wont cock the hammer

I knew your rifle was 2002 but didn't know when they started using the Taurus key system. Sorry I cannot offer any other suggestions as I simply don't know anything about those rifles. I would send it to Rossi if you don't have a gunsmith in your area.

Thank you for your input,I have called Rossi,I think I'm just going to sell it out, maybe split it up and sell pieces. We have a small local gun show next month,I may take it there and see if any interest in it.

Will the hammer cock without a barrel installed?. How about with the stock removed. Seems I've read somewhere of that happening if the stock bolt was over tightened.

The bolt does cock with the barrels off,It actually cocks with the muzzle loader barrel but hard. With either of the rifle barrels it will not fully cock.I'll check the stock bolt see if that has any effect....Thanks

Nothing really,I'm thinking of selling it maybe some one could fit the barrels or just use the barrels.I'm sure its probably a simple fix,but I'm not sure.I think its brand new...
