I don't see where the extended clip goes? 😀
Not much into old Winchesters but a rifle like that at a decent price would probably follow me home too.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.
Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

That is a nice find though.

Can you still find 22 longs? I have seen CCI longs on the shelf recently, about the same price as shorts or CB's.

I bought a couple boxes of Longs during The Great Scarcity but haven't seen any since. These were added to several other boxes of Longs I picked up here and there over the years. My old Remington single shot shoots them better than Shorts though the Marlin 39 chokes on anything other than Long Rifles.
I've been tempted by a couple of Winder muskets in 22 Short in the last few years but couldn't justify the $1200 asking price in part due to having very little 22 Short ammo available. I picked up a couple bricks of 22 Shorts since but those Winders are now gone. Figures.

Can you still find 22 longs? I have quite a few. I have a Winchester 1873 in 22 Long and stockpiled ammo for that...

Gophers are only a month away from seeing the wrong end of the Winchester...
I like the way you put old rifles to work, looking forward to the pics.

Shrapnel,
Nice Rifle!
Does "W.F. Sheard" have special significance? Was that the name of a business?

Shrapnel
That low wall with the Sheard markings would look a lot better in my gun case next to my 1899 303 also with Sheard markings Tacoma, Wa. Looked at a 32 Low wall last week. Bore was extremely poor and wood damage on the forearm. Had to pass on it. GW

William F. Sheard was a Montana Territorial gunsmith who was located in Livingston Montana Territory from 1884-1895. He then moved to Tacoma, Washington. He patented a unique front sight for rifles. He later sold the patent to Marble Gunsight Co. https://www.morphyauctions.com/jamesdjulia/item/53140-1-402/Cool find Shrapnel.....another creedmore for the collection.
