They were difficult for me to just eat a fresh one at the time. I was tougher then.


Now that I see Bonnie's has them, I may try to find a nursery here that orders from them and see if I can get a few plants.

Get ready to have yer hearts broke folks, lunch at a bull sale yesterday.

Looks like a chili soup.

Must not have scooped all the way to the bottom of the electric roaster for that bowl.

Chili it was, they must have been thinkin' like my mother used say, If company comes, just put more water in the soup.

It was good, they also had cheeseburger soup.

AKA, hobo soup. At least twice a month on my table.

One of my first forays into the world of hot pepper occurred at a Thai joint in Wheaton Md. many years ago when I ate the cute little green beans,...........




They felt sorry for me.

Johnnys chicken adobo soft tacos.

Hamburger gravy on mashed potatoes.

Boiled carrots on the side.

Kids made pizza

Ya, slowly building tolerance !

Speaking of hot peppers, years ago I was working on a big multi family project in Santa Barbara CA. We were staying at a house the company had rented for us in a small coastal town (Carpenteria) which had a small manufacturing firm that naturally employed 99% Mexican women who would gather at the city park for lunch. After they had eaten they would coat their lips with salt ( like a margarita glass). When I asked one of the locals what that was all about they told me it was to help neutralize the the hot peppers they had with lunch.
I've never seen anything like it before or since but the sight of those old fat mamacitas setting around on the grass yacking and looking like circus clowns was pretty funny. Anybody else ever see that kinda thing.....Fats?.....Cali?

Yup salt does work. As kids we would get lemon or lime wedges sprinkle salt on them to suck on wipe on lips after eating hot salsa or peppers. Salt or the citric acid by itself does work but not quite as well. I suspect a salt anion interrupts the capsicum affect on pain receptors. Citric acid as well breaks up capsicum oil. High fat dairy products like ice cream work as well and tastes better.

Another thing is saladitos, which is salted fruit. We would stick them in a lemon or lime wedges to suck on.
