It was moving at turtle speed, so we tried to stay ahead of it but that changed and it just got too dangerous as visibility was zero, if only obviously. So we stayed put for the night. Straight up "The Mummy" kind of sandstorm it was.

My buddy and I were on the backside of the runways on the perimeter road. We hauled azz back. I think all my Al Asad pictures are at my dad's house still. Eat Fish, Wear Grundens, Drink Alaskan.

I wish I took more pictures in my time in the desert, but I was a bit preoccupied. I remember seeing native chukar and some desert sheep critters...maybe some sort of ibex, in the cliffy areas of Al Anbar. My M2 was pointed at them a few times....wish'n.

Haven't set foot in the country but have seen it from the sea and air. Sailed around it on the Bainbridge going from Thailand to Australia. We made some stops on some of the islands, but I can't remember where. My nephew's first deer.
