Hate to start a thread just for this, but I've been wondering - how do Talley Lightweight mounts do with scopes in the 20 oz range (like the SWFA scopes people like to recommend). Looking at mounting a scope on my Tikka 30-06. Would it be better to go with something more heavy duty? If I'm getting a heavy-ish scope I'd like to keep weight down with the rings if I can.

I have a 22.2 ounce Bushnell 6500 4 1/2-30X50 in Talley lightweight high rings. They've been trouble free. The rifle uses 65 grains of powder and 130 grain bullets in a 7 pound rifle.

I have used them with several Nightofrce scopes for several years and have had zero issues. They are all over 20 oz scopes.

Same here with several 20+ ounce scopes, including Nightforce, SWFA,Tract Toric and Weaver Super Slams.

have to say it.... but scopes in the 20oz range would be considered "light" scopes as far as the ones ive been looking at.

They will handle it fine. The only time I've seen issues is when the Talleys have been over tightened causing them to break under recoil or just break for the hell of it

Guess I’ve been “lucky” haha. Over 20 of my rifles wear em along w an NXS 5.5-22 and a couple of the NXS compacts. They are all I’ll buy.
