I just replaced the iron sights of a carbine pump action rifle with fiber optic sights, front and rear. On a cloudy morning in the backyard the dots were bright and clear. Have yet to take them to the range.

Compared to real iron sights, which can be quite accurate if your eyes can focus that close, how accurate can guns be shot lining up the three dots:

The dots look something like this:

Lots of variables there as to eyesight, design, etc.

I do know that I much prefer ones that are basically a Patridge with a fiber optic insert below the top to ones that have a bare piece of FO material. The square top gives a well-defined sighting point, unlike the round or triangular beads that are pretty vague to my eyes. The one on my S&W M63 is the best I've seen.

What fresh Hell is this?

Wish you were better

Stab them in the taint, you can't put a tourniquet on that.
