$1.3b for 55 miles comes down to $4,476.58/ft for some posts in the dirt. I've been an owner/operator in both dirt work and metal fabrication. I must be missing something. Are the landowners getting $2000/ft or are the gov contractors making bank at our expense again?

Yeah I've been thinking the same thing seems a little high why don't they have the Army Corps of Engineers pound it in.

Everything the Fed Gov does infrastructure-wise is a fleecing of the taxpayer to benefit big corporate donors. They do things as inefficiently as possible and price it accordingly. It’s taken for granted but Pres Trump has talked about challenging it a bit by opening things up to competitive bidding but we’ll see.

I’d love to see union shops bumped out of the running.

Any competent, bonded and insured company should be able to bid the jobs. Union or not.

The big pipeline companies should be all over the wall.

Where did you come up with the $55B number? I've not ever heard that number pushed around.

I wondered when that would be caught.

The math in the OP is a bit off.... wink

So is "for some posts in the dirt".

It’s not what the wall will cost. Every body knows the government contracts are a big waste of money.
It’s what the wall we’ll save. In education, health care and crime committed by illegals.
On car insurance alone my agent said the biggest cost was uninsured motorists. Guess who these are. Hasbeen

I don't need to guess. My insurance agent has become a friend over the many years I've been insuring cars, boats, motorcycles through him.

2 examples:

Little Pepe y Juan who just floated over on some leaky-ass boat 6 months ago and are now doing "construction" while driving around in the beater '69 Chevee pickup they and their cousin resurrected from cousin's back yard. Only problem is the Chevee still had the rotten bald tires it had since it's last breath 4 years ago and little Pepe y Juan rear-ended a college girl and her friend on the Palmetto Expwy.

Or, little fun loving Julio who just hopped a fence outside McAllen, TX 3 months ago, heard he had a cousin in Meeami, and has been joyriding around south Dade in cousin's daughter's '79 Pinto. That is, until he got uber drunk one night and t-boned a family after he ran a red light at 60 mph.
