Who's had this done? I'm due to get my right eye done soon and I wonder what kind of improvement I can expect. I can't see the targets clearly anymore at trap and skeet and its dam near impossible to teach a right hander to shoot lefty. Also, do they put you under to do it? When it comes to ant kind of surgery, I'm a BIG Puzzy.

I had my right eye done about 10 years ago. Right hand rifle and clay target shooter.
I had monthly eye exams for 1 year, every month there were minor adjustments.
What i was looking for and wanted was 20 X 20 came up with 20 X 40 about what i started with.
I do not know what changes resulted, however i know that i had to relearn seeing the target in trap and skeet.
No, your wide awake and they are talking to you while the surgery is being performed.
There is a line up, from what I observed is that the difficult cases are first and the easier cases last on surgery day.
Go with traditional implants vs the new technology. Unless you are a test subject. I have a friend who went that way and wished he never did.

One eye went extremely well. 3 days later and seeing like I was 25 again.
The other, not so well, but I'm less than 1 in 100 that way.
I'd do it again either way

fubarguy,
Just had my left eye done last Thursday. I was having a lot of trouble with my night vision, and cloudy daytime vision, and tests showed my left eye was the worst. Wow, what a difference!. First thing I noticed was with color- white is now actually white, blue is brighter blue, when compared to my right eye, which puts a yellowish hue on everything. Distance vision is now clear and sharp with my left. Can't wait to get the right eye done, in the next 10 days.
like you, I was apprehensive about the surgery, but it is painless. You are awake during the process, but they do use a mild anesthesia to calm you down. Whole actual surgery takes about 25 minutes, and an hour or so later, you can see out of your new repaired eye. I had the single-vision, distance lens option selected, but I have found in the past few days that just using a cheapo pair of Walmart reading glasses allows me to read and work on my computer just fine.
I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave....

Agree with the single vision lens, corrected for distant vision. Readers are too cheap and easy to find.
KISS.

Had my right eye done when I was 21 years old.
They give ya a big needle injection into the eyeball...you can see the syringe and needle in 3-D coming at your eyeball. Then the poke.
They slice her open while youre awake and slide the new lens in.
that was my experience.
YMMV

In more modern times like today, they'll use an eye drop to deaden the eye and short term medication that causes you to lose your fear totally. Like if they told you to go lay on a busy freeway, you would try it. I was awake both times and felt nothing.
Its not a serious procedure nowadays and the benefits are great. Done largely with lasers. I had it done about two years ago - both eyes a week apart - and I now have 20/15 vision. I did pay extra for a couple of special lenses to get me there, but the entire procedure is not something to worry about.
It's official. I missed the selfie deadline so I'm Maser's sock puppet because rene and the Polish half of the fubar twins have decided that I am.

Needle in my eye? While i'm awake? None of that sounds good You probably get some Versed via iV now. Like Bayou says, they started me out with a numbing drop jnto the eye. Then the needle. But the drops felt like fuggin brake fluid being dripped into my eye. 😬 Get a buddy or ANY old lady to front you 3-4 xanax before going in there. 😄 My situation was unconventional, I had a framing nail punch into my eyeball and trash my native lens.

I’m gonna have it done soon too. I’m a bit apprehensive too, but want to see well again. My left eye is great, right sucks.

As I've said before, I've had rougher haircuts. You'll be a little less fubar when it's over. Relax, you'll wish you had done it sooner. ;-{>8
