I picked up this bolt from a guy said it was for a model 700 rem LA. Measured it up, etc fits a 700, however it seems to have a 700 sized lug measurement, but has a Winchester model 70 post 64 action extractor on it. All Remington 700 bolts i know of have the lugs set back to allow the bolt face to go into the chamber opening on the barrel. This bolt has one side like that but then the other with the extractor in it would sit flush to the breach face without that ring of steel in the breech found on a "normal" 700. The lugs are not sized correctly to fit a model 70 Winchester, so i am puzzled. Any help would be great. Thanks

I was thinking some people used to put Sako extractors on Remington bolts. Hasbeen

A pic of the whole bolt (including the handle) would be very helpful in iding. Would also post in the Gunsmithing forum.

thought that might be the case too, but i have a 721, they have the same recessed lugs so the bolt face goes into the breach a little bit.

I had a Herters that had a bolt similar to that. Can't remember if I had the Mauser style or the one made in England.
