SS is fine, but CM isn't bad. SS tend to die from one shot to the next at the end of their life while CM just fade away

If worried about corrosion etc... simply dura bore coat a CM. SS is not necessary. Quality of the barrel is more important than type of metal basically.

I'd not go less than 8 or 9 twist personally. There are reasons to, but I don't have any of them. I"ve rarely been unhappy with a 7 twist. Even 6.5 twists will shoot thick jacketed 52 smks... varmint 50ish the 6.5 will not, and even the 7s have toasted some thin skin Berger bullets years ago before they beefed up their 63s IIRC.

Any advice on stripped receiver? See if that PSA has a billet receiver.

I would replace the trigger, even if it's polished, it's still too heavy.

Personally, I don't see the point of billet receivers on 5.56 hunting guns, and certainly not the lower. Maybe someone can make a case for billet lowers in some sort of competition, but it won't be Highpower. I could see a billet lower if it was paired with a billet upper just for aesthetics. The lower doesn't do anything other than hold the pieces together. Not much stress.

After reading all the great opinions on the PSA kit, I ordered one last night. This will be my first AR. I’ll pick up a trigger too. Any brand of receiver you recommend or are they kind of a horse apiece?

I like 2 stage triggers. You get a safe, light, final pull weight with them.

Right now, the best deal that I'm aware of is the LaRue MBT2S. It feels good and is about 26/28oz 1st & 2nd with the light spring in my gun.

I'm not a big fan of Anderson, but for lower, I'd buy something cheap. Some of the Anderson's are OK, some are weird colors. You'll probably need a short grip screw with them, or about 1/4" worth of washers. I like PSA, Aero, Spikes for budget lowers. There's a lot of others out there. Look for a deal, they aren't difficult to unload if you don't like them.

color of lower does not affect how it works just FYI for folks. Tyrone knows that I'm just tossing it out. All depends on if you are anal or not. Guns are a tool for me. Never really all that concerned about looks though I do have a couple of bolt guns in colors just because I could but I won't go out of my way to buy.... if blems are just color and not functional issues, roll with it.
