My bud has a Remington Police in 223 with a fluted 20" heavy barrel with a flat black finish and black stock. Anybody heard of it?

I don't know. The box was marked 700TM. Never heard of one and can't find info on it.

Remington made some of those tactical 700's as special runs. I have one that was made for a distributor, can't recall which one, in 308. I figured it out by googling the order number......should be 5 numbers, that are on the box.....such as 85587.

I have the Police model in .308. Does not have a fluted barrel. My rifle has had a 26” barrel that measures about .820 at the muzzle. At the time of purchase you had a choice of 20” or 26”. These rifles were not plentiful and could be had in .223 or .308. Bought mine the early 1980’s. Shoots like a bench gun with a load it likes out of the box. Like five into 1/2”! After I purchased my rifle Remington started with the flutes. My rifle has a HS stock with palm swells.

Same time frame they made an LTR same basic gun but with a 20 inch barrel they considered fluted kind of a square fluting. I don't know if they still make either a such under those titles

I’m curious to see the box label.

Sorry, quick trip out of state. I'll see if I can get a pic of the label on the box. It does say 700TM, the number 25737 is the same as a LTR.

My bud has a Remington Police in 223 with a fluted 20" heavy barrel with a flat black finish and black stock. Anybody heard of it? I believe the TM stands for Tactical Model and I think they're 700 SPS variants ... blue steel, matte finish. I think there were some non-cataloged variants with different stocks. Question: does it say rate of twist after the cartridge designation on the barrel?
Anyone who thinks there's two sides to everything hasn't met a Mbius strip.

I believe the stock is a H&S Precision.

If it is dark colored stainless, I'm wrong. The rifles I was talking about are all "regular", not stainless, steel. Could it be this one? https://www.remington.com/rifles/bolt-action/model-700/model-700-xcr-compact-tacticalOtherwise it might be a PSS. I didn't know they made the PSS in a 20" with a fluted barrel, but my focus has been more on the varmint rifle lineup than tactical / police. Tom

Tom, He said he put it on gunbroker and has a pic of the box. It kinda looks like the one you reference too, but the stock on his is flat black. The twist is not listed on the barrel, but it is a 9 twist. I'll try to get more info. Does not the product number say anything?

I missed that part, sorry. 25737. Here y' go: https://www.remingtondefense.com/sniper-rifles/model-700-ltr/ ... first line on the chart. 20", fluted, black HS precision stock. I think rather than stainless, there must be some cro-mo in the white showing.

I'll defer to you on this. Saw on one reference to it that the barrel was SS with a PVD coating. He said it hasn't been very popular yet on Gunbroker.

I have the LTR in 223 and the Compact Tactical in .308 (but with an LTR stock on it). I love both, and the 223 is crazy accurate. They are NOT for sale....

It’s a Remington LTR in .223 with a 1 in 9 twist. Part of the Police series. Great guns. I have it’s bigger brother in 308 Win. Love it to dearly. Enjoy it! Tom

What’s the TM strand for?
I mounted a scope for a buddy on a 700 XCR Compact Tactical in 223 with a 1:9 twist.
I’ve never seen the TM suffix.

Maybe it stands for “Tactical Model” ? I looked at the box for mine and it says Model 700 LTR. Maybe that’s how they label newer ones.
