So if you buy a scope with turrets, why would you want a reticle with extra hash marks? I could maybe see some windage marks but the point of the turret is to dial in the range. That being said it seems pretty rare to find a simple reticle in a turret scope. Thoughts?

Search JGRaider and his scope set up. He likes both.
Works for him.

sometimes there isn't time to dial..... My theory exactly.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

I like evenly-spaced marks that match my adjustments. So, for example, a mark every half-mil or maybe every 2 minutes, depending whether the adjustments are mils or mins. But a BDC reticle with ‘turrets?’ That is something I don’t apprehend at all.

out to about 450 yards a BDC reticle works pretty darn good. as some have said YES there isn't time to dial. even with a scope you plan on dialing it should have some windage ticks so that you can hold off for wind. if you have those might as well having something to allow holding for elevation as well. I like the nightforce MOAR, in 3.5-15 or higher power. it doesn't really have a downside with its markings. you get a clean cross in the middle.

Centershot: You need to get out more - like go Coyote Hunting! Very often there is not time to be twisting dials and computing things. A scared't Coyote can cover incredible distances incredibly quickly - assess range to escaping Coyote pick a circle - fire - just that quick. Repeat if necessary. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
