I'd say it's pretty standard for businesses to donate money to people who might make decisions that affect them. So it should be common practice for gun shops to donate to brady? That's pretty silly. The Brady Center would not do anything to help gun shops. But elected officials might support a bill that would help Benchmade in some way. I'm just pointing out how the real world works.

I don't know who you're asking directly but (speaking for myself) yes, I'm angry that Benchmade assisted their local PD in cutting up those guns. And more to the point, I'm angry that, that local PD and Benchmade somehow equate cutting up guns, with committing some form of public service that makes their community more safe. It doesn't. It's a lie. And it offends me as an American. Does it offend me to the point that I would never own or a use a Benchmade product? No. But it does offend me to the point that I make Benchmade aware that their actions are insulting, stupid, and without cause. Travis Agreed. But then it all got posted to Benchmade's FB page... Benchmade may or may not lean leftward, but they make the best locking folding knife you can buy for a reasonable price. Let's see how BM deals with this conflagration going down the road.
