Long shot here as these Old Town Hunters have not been made in some time. Let me know if you have one in good condition you would like to part with. I am located in northern PA and would travel to nearby states for the right canoe. Thanks.

I always thought they would be a pretty nice solo canoe. By the time I figured that out they were gone. Good luck with your search!

Ha! Same reason I am after one. They are about the perfect solo set up. I have seen a couple over the years on craigslist, but unfortunately they were in awful rough shape. Thanks.

You should also look for an Old Town Katahdin model. Mine is a two seater 12’, 55lb. I hunt and fish out of mine and can stand up and fly fish. Bought in in Central Texas off Craigslist for $300.

I am thinking the Katahdin you describe is similar to the Stillwater 12. I had one of those and liked it alot. I also currently have a predator 13 that is a real nice shorter canoe.

A few years ago I tried a few different Old Town canoes out at a store that had ones you could test paddle on a river behind the store. I was leaning towards the Hunter until I got out in it. At about 250 pounds the Hunter felt unstable. I ended up getting a Pathfinder model which I think is 15 foot that I used extensively, including some week long canoe camping trips. The extra capacity for gear helped. Depending on your physical size it's something to think about.

Where are you in PA. ?

I had a camp in Potter for about 30 years .
