I worked under a helicopter building power lines across Chickaloon flats in Alaska till it crashed killing four linermen. Pretty sure they didn't have your class of maintaince. Most crashes are Pilot error. I don't know the story of the crash you speak of it could very well have been maintenance related. But that is the exception rather than the norm. There are operators that do some seriously shady chit to make a profit. However there are a lot that don't cut corners too.

What's the maintenance hour,to flight hour ratio on a 53?..................... I already answered that. About the same. However in all actuality less than the 46 because you have to push it so hard to do less! That's not a ratio,but still entertaining. 53 parts are less expensive too? Laughing!................ As are 46 parts

MCH, your waste g your time. He's a janitor in a library. Stick is ok. He just can't admit when he is wrong or doesn't know. He'll just go till you give up. Which is the smart play. But it is snowing balls here and I have nothing better to do than play along with him. I got more hours sleeping in a 46 than stick has times two working underneath them.
