If anyone has a case of cabin fever and wants a dang good book to pass the time, I highly recommend getting on amazon and ordering “Jordan”, by Arthur Jordan... He details his life from coming to America from England as a teenager to working as a cowboy and wolfer in Wyoming, South Dakota, and south eastern MT. From there he ranges north and eventually founds the town of Jordan MT. Lots of good stories of vigilantes, cowboys, outlaws, hunting and trapping. I just finished reading it a couple weeks ago and am thinking I might have to reread it.

Not so much cabin fever but avoiding the cold this month (don't know why). So since About Feb 1 I have read 24 western books so far and have got all my chores done as well. Traded my walking, snowshoeing time for a book. Each book about 400 pages. 50 cents each at a book store, so has been pretty good entertainment. Starting to get anxious for some spring weather and spending long days outside. Few Rod and Gun events coming up and maybe a bit of shed hunting. No ice fishing so far but that could change soon.

“Memoirs of a White Crow Indian” by Thomas Leforge as told by Thomas Marquis. This is quite interesting as it tells about Leforge’s time spent as a scout for Custer and his association with Mitch Buoyer.
“The Last Stand” by Nathaniel Philbrick. This time I made notations and references in the back of the book to resource historical evidence of Custer and the battle at Little Bighorn.
“Giant Rams Of Montana” by John Reeves. This book is just a compilation of sheep hunting in Montana and the trophies collected by hunters. I was even able to contribute one chapter in that book...

Plus 2 on Jordan. But it appeals most to those of us who were raised in the Big Dry Country.
It sure gives a good picture of life before the homestead area.

"Guns At The Forks" by Walter O'Meara. It tells the story of the five different forts built at the confluence of the Allegheny and the Monongahela rivers in present day Pittsburgh. It chronicles Ft Necessity, Braddock's Defeat and the early stages of the French & Indian War, as well as the Fort's role in the American Revolution and settlement of the Ohio River basin and Indian wars thereof. Being a native Pennsylvanian, I love stuff like this. 7mm
