Just bought a new T3x in 270WSM and having trouble getting any speed w/ the 145 Eld-X and 140 SGC using temp stable powders. Accuracy is good but can’t hardly break 3k using H1000, 4955 and 7977 before hitting pressure. Figure 3100-3200 should be doable. Retumbo, Magnum and H4831 are up next but any experience from guys loading the 140-145s is appreciated.

I would think IMR4451 would get you there, too.

Fwiw, I had extremely good luck with h4350 for accuracy. It was with 130s though.

Magpro...not sure about temp stability, but it shoots great for me with 145 eldx’s.

Yeah I wish Magpro showed better temp stability because it pushes the Eld-X FAST out of this WSM. I just had way too much velocity variation in the extreme temps I shoot/hunt when used in my 7RMs and 257Roy.

R26 has only been temperature sensitive at over 80-90 degrees for me. I have also used R25 and R22 which are not temperature insensitive and have had no issues. But if temp. stability is a major deciding factor I think I would try R23 as it is one of the most stable powders. You won't give up that much in velocity. Not sure about Mag Pro, Retumbo or Magnum as far as temp stability. Magnum is supposed to be good at least for a ball powder.

I use Retumbo for my 270 wsm 140 gn and up. I have all the powders you have listened and have tried them all but retumb puts up the best accuracy and muzzle velocity , very temp stable . You can also change your seating depth to gain more velocity. How many rounds have you put through your rifle ? I have often found a rifle needs a good breaking in before true accuracy and optimum muzzle velocity can be gained. 100 round rule for me regardless of what make it is . Of course not all at one time.

Only 50rds or so down the tube. Glad to hear Retumbo has worked for ya, probably my favorite powder for 7RM and 300RUM and super stable in my experience.
Hope it stops raining/snowing here so I can get out and shoot. At this rate snow levels will be so high we won’t be able to get into bear country until summer...

I tried many different combinations in my Winchester model 70 laminated classic .270WSM but H1000 & 140gn Nosler Accubonds worked best for me. In my rifle, H1000 was the best performing single based powder with velocity averaging around 3000fps with max loads.
