It was on a night or so back and recorded it. Looking forward to watching it... Helluva movie. They don't make movies like that anymore.

They don't seem to make actors like that anymore. Watching some of the "Duke's" movies from the early forty's, he could say a lot with a little expression.
Later in his career, it may have been true, "Give me the hat, give me the script". Everyone knew what they were getting with him.

Red quit his job with Otis. Said it was too dangerous.
I’ve had the unpleasant duty of working directly with Boots and Coots 3 times over the years.

The vehicle marked ‘explosives’ was actually the Wooster Emergency Corps ambulance for the scene in Baytown at the first part of the movie.

Another one of the Duke's good movies. Not a western, but it'll do.

My dad worked for a wildcatting company back then, and they had a blowout when filming was going on. The CEO tagged up with the film company and they used that shot in the film. It’s when the Hutton character takes over and walks away from putting out the blowout. JW is my favorite actor!

It's funny I was thinking of this movie just the other day. When it first aired I was a young kid and was disappointed a JW movie didn't involve cowboys and shootouts. Thought of re-watching it, this time from an adult perspective.

Wife and I saw it in a little theater in Quincy, Michigan. Came out of the place with terrible headaches. Found out the next day that the furnace had a gas leak. A hundred or so of us were lucky the movie wasn't longer. It was pretty good anyway.

The fire scenes were filmed at Red Buttes, west of Casper Wyoming on my Great Grand Dads place. Daniel Speas, There is a fish hatchery named after him. A friend of mine rode over to the set and played chess with John Wayne.

Once worked with a cementer that owned a pair of Red Adair's boots that he'd left behind on some blowout job.
He was right proud of 'em.

They filmed some of the scenes in a building that my Mother worked in. Mom said when someone asked for his autograph John Wayne gave them a business card with his autograph.
