Who makes a factory 1 on 8 twist 22-250?
Didn't Tikka make a run a few years back?

If I go 22-250, I want something that can stabilize 88 grain bullets.

I bought a Ruger American from Short Action Smoker, AKA Whittakers this past summer in 1-8 twist. It's not magic but it worked for 62gr Barnes TTSX and Superformance powder on Wyo. antelope which is their stated minimum bullet weight for game of that size. A Tikka 1-8 would be nice but I'm cheap....
Sorry I've not tried heavier bullets, these worked fine.

Sounds like it would be a great set up for a AR10 with a fast twist 22-250 barrel ..

The one and 8's are a Whittaker special.

Maybe the next Whittaker's special should be a predator in 22-250 with a 8 or 7 twist and throated for 88 grain ELD-Ms?
Or, one in 22 Creedmoor?

I think the mag would give you problems with that bullet but I haven't tried the 88's.
They definitely don't work with the 75's.

I have seen some hacks that will allow you to use a different Tikka mag in order to get a longer COL but I don't recall the specifics. David, I have a RH Tikka 22-250 with the 1-8'' twist barrel if that's the direction you are leaning. It's all but unfired. If you're interested, pm me.

There are no issues with the factory offered Tikka mag shooting 75s in the 1/8T factory .22-250. The regular magazines that came with the factory Tikka 1/8 .22-250 are good for 2.83" OAL. If you need more, you can purchase the Tikka M+ magazines which are good for 2.98" OAL. More info: https://enoughgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1255&start=18

Have a 8" Teeker 22-250(and 223).
Pass the good schit and hold the Fluff.

I believe you may be able to shoot 50 gr with that twist. I think 1-9 is pickier than 1-8. I have chrono'd my 22" .22-250 next to my friends 24" .22-250, both Tikka's with about 25-35 fps difference per inch. The variance was with different factory ammo loaded. Certainly a minimal loss for my hunting and nothing a handloader can't erase easily. Or factory Superformance ammo can surpass most any other factory load speeds.

The 62 grain Barnes would be hell on pigs at 22-250 speeds.

I think that they teach shooting 50 grainers in an 8 twist in "Twist 101" maybe even in a 9 twist..I believe... Clark, I'm worried about you...
