79 bucks for registration each yr in in my county in Tennessee
Taxable when bought intially or sold again per whatever tax the state decides.
Gift exemption for family if transferring a title.

Don't even complain, I have to pay for inspection and a stupid tax on 3 vehicles.

In Georgia you pay your ad valorum tax up front when first registering your vehicle. After that its just the annual tag fee, about $21.00 or so. Just bought another loaner vehicle for my shop, a 2001 BMW 330i, and paid about $310.00 ad valorum on it. Bought tags for the other 6 loaners and my car hauler (trailer) and the total was $580.00 including the ad valorum on the “new” one.

Wyoming rapes you on any licensed vehicle/trailer. And if that’s not enough...we get to pay an additional fee for what they consider a heavy vehicle. We paid a weight penalty on 3 units ( our Ram truck, our 5th wheel, and our little Class C). Our license plates totaled just under 2 grand last year! We’ve got a 15 year old camper that costs $502.00/year. Wyoming bases your license fees based upon the base factory price for that vehicle, then reduces it by a percentage annually for the first 5 or 6 ( can’t remember), then you pay that until you no longer license that unit! This is one area where Wyoming truly “sucks”. They are trying to make hunting and fishing just as outrageous!

These costs are “not” labeled as a tax.....these are taxes, disguised as annual license plate fees! mad memtb

Another reason that Idaho is on our very short list of places to relocate. So far, only Idaho is on the list! memtb

In Colorado we pay 2.1% yearly OWNERSHIP TAX on the value of every vehicle you own. If you buy a nice new truck, you had better plan on paying $1000 the first year for plates. It goes down some every year after that.

Edit- I was in error. 1st year 2.1, 2nd year 1.5, 3rd year 1.2, 4th year .9, 5th year .45 ...........

In Minnesota the yearly license fee is based on the value of the vehicle. The rate was cut a few years ago when we had a wrassler for a governor. (about the only good thing he accomplished) They also charge sales tax every time a vehicle changes hands.

That's crazy stuff. Weight should be the guiding factor.

My tags are $74 per vehicle.

Indiana has an excise tax plus registration fees. IIRC our 4Runner was about $300. More than made up for with low 2.9% state income tax.
