I know political comments are frowned on here but I couldn't resist this one.
A number of years ago Hilary Clinton coined the phrase "it takes a village to raise a child"
Then someone coined the phrase "Mrs. Clinton your village is looking for their idiot"
Now it has occurred to me "Ms Ocasiio-Cortez your village had found their idiot"

I didn't say he was a troll. Also it was not in the same sentence, sentences end at periods. But posting polarizing comments on a public forum is trolling. He's a good guy and I'm not implying that trolling was his intention. He literally wrote the book on my favorite rifle I wouldn't try to offend him. Also to be clear I pay zero attention to politics, I don't like any sides in the game, so the comment wasn't offensive to me.

This used to be the only place I could go that wasn't polluted by politics and/or religion.

Who among us has never engaged in OT reparte here? I submit that if discussions were strictly limited to Savage only topics the forum would have dried up and blown away long ago. Just how much can be said about pre-war R swivels, .250-3000 rates of twist, or .300 EG's? The bulk of the habitues here have interests that extend beyond things Savage and it's only natural to share this stuff- it's what friends do when with each other, and I daresay we have become friends after lo these many years. One non-PC thread does not constitute a salacious trend. A couple new ones a week would make me wonder though, but that doesn't happen here thank goodness.
Would I want to see this forum become a cesspool of mindless drivel, like the Hunter's Campfire became almost from day one? Of course not. Do I see an alarming trend? Nah. The "Off Topic" disclaimer in thread headings should be sufficient to ward off anybody who has a rigid set of expectations regarding Savage-only discussion.

Your points are well taken Gary and have merit. I suppose we have become friends at least in terms of how we view Savage's and guns in general By bringing attention to the fact that political discussions usually only lead to bitter arguments, hostility and hard feelings, I've taken the bait and fallen into my own trap.  I would hate to see that fuse lit and become the case here. OT or not. Nuff said about that. Step off soap box, exit stage left...
