Just started playing with this combo. Lowest starting loads (52gr) were pushing 3000 FPS w a Hornady143 eld x in a 24” barrel. No bolt stiffness, but too hot for my comfort level. I know there are reports of great velocities in the 270, but didn’t expect 3000 FPS w a 143 in the 6.5-06. I now have about 10 rounds I will be pulling. Just FYI if anyone else tries this combo. Start LOW and work up slowly.

I am glad to hear it, and it doesn't surprise me. I have used lots of it in the .270's.

I actually had this page printed out and in my reloading workbook. Based on the R26 data, I figured, around 52 grains, was a good starting point. Glad I didn’t start any higher. But it looks like the high 2900’s is gonna be easily doable with the 143 eldx’s.

Haven’t tried it with the lighter bullets but don’t see why it wouldn’t work

Interesting, do you have any data on what pressures are generated with that load?
